MTX-SPONSORED RIDER JEFF WARD WINS 2004 AMA SUPERMOTO CHAMPIONSHIP
Thursday 2 December 2004
MTX Audio is honored to announce that Jeff Ward, Supermoto rider and member of the MTX / Troy Lee Designs team, has won the AMA Supermoto Championship of 2004. This is Ward’s 1st AMA Supermoto championship but it marks his eighth career AMA championship and his first since winning the now defunct AMA 500 Motocross Series in 1990.
Ward, the 43-year-old racing phenomenon from Newport Beach, is already a member of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame and continues to add to this already impressive racing resume. Jeff placed his MTX / Troy Lee Designs Honda CRF450R on the podium at all seven rounds of the AMA Supermoto Championships taking wins at Copper Mountain, Nashville and the double points paying Las Vegas finale where he tallied 186 points to sweep the finals. In addition to winning the individual title with Ward, MTX / Troy Lee Designs Honda dominated the AMA Supermoto Team Championship. Ward, Doug Henry and Chris Fillmore scored 306 points while the second place team was 75 points off the mark at 231.
MTX teamed up with Troy Lee Designs last August and they have been winning ever since. This year‚s 7 round series was the most significant AMA Supermoto schedule to date. MTX Audio is proud to be involved with such an exciting series and with the Troy Lee Designs team. Congratulations to Jeff Ward, Doug Henry, Chris Fillmore, Troy Lee, and the entire MTX / Troy Lee Designs team for putting together such a successful year.
„This championship is huge for our company!" says team owner Troy Lee. „Our entire staff has worked very hard to develop our team and this means a lot to everyone at Troy Lee Designs. Nothing makes me happier than seeing one of my best friends win. I‚ve been with Wardy since the very beginning and I‚m super proud to have him as part of our team."
